  Cellular Monitoring Tool

CELLULAR MONITORING TOOL

FSU Policy requires that cellular invoices be reviewed in order to ensure that the University obtains reimbursement for personal usage of telecommunications equipment and services whenever such usage causes the packaged minutes to be exceeded.  A recent audit by the Office of the Auditor General resulted in a repeat finding of non-compliance with this policy.

As with any University-owned telecommunications device or service, personal usage of cellular phones is discouraged.  In order to assist with the responsibility of reviewing the cellular usage for your respective departments, the University is currently in the process of developing an efficient and effective online monitoring program.  University policy will subsequently be revisited and, in order to obtain and retain cellular phone service, the University will mandate use of this program.

The first phase of the development process requires that users’ FSUIDs be provided and matched to their cell phone numbers. Between August 1 - August 15, please assist the University during this first phase of development by following the steps noted below to assign users to specified cell phone numbers within your department:

  1. Log-in to https://apps.oti.fsu.edu/Telephones using your FSUID and password.
  2. Review the cellular numbers assigned to your department.
  3. Click on the ‘Associate Phone Numbers’ link at the bottom of the page.
  4. Assign users to each cellular number by entering the user’s FSUID.
  5. Click on ‘Save Phone User’s FSUID’.
  6. If you encounter problems with assigning or saving the user information, please email help@otc.fsu.edu  or call 644-HELP (4357) for assistance.

Once this portion of development is completed, you will be notified via email when the online monitoring program is fully operational.  In the interim, please comply with the cellular phone policy as noted in John Carnaghi’s memo dated November 21, 2001 and located at http://www.vpfa.fsu.edu/Policies/otc/cellpolicymemo.pdf.

If you encounter problems or have general questions regarding the monitoring program, please email help@otc.fsu.edu  or call 644-HELP (4357) for assistance.   Thanks in advance for your immediate attention to this issue.
